Finding The Gyms

KANTO

This is what the Kanto gyms look like: each Gym Leader has a different roof color corresponding to them.

Gym Leader Brock

For the Kanto region, you will automatically receive a map to the first gym as soon as you start the game.

You can make your search easier by trading maps with the Map Guide Villager of each region: to get one, simply place the corresponding cartography table block next to an unemployed Villager.

To find the other Kanto gyms, for example, you’ll need the Kanto Cartography Table, which can be crafted using a few simple items. The crafting recipe will be the same for all region tables; the only difference is the color of the Pokéballs used in each recipe.

Once you have it, trade with the Map Guide to get maps by providing the required items or just insert an empty map along with the Signature item of the Gym Leader you’re trying to locate.

Cartography Table works in all other dimensions as well, but you must craft the the version specific to each dimension.
Here’s what you’ll need in the Nether, while this is what you’ll have to use in the End:

You may have noticed a new icon in the Cartography Table interface.
What is it? It’s a Battle Seaker. It expands the search radius when generating maps and allows you to create a map for a gym that has not been mapped yet.

Use it especially if you’re playing with a lot of friends, so you won’t get in each other’s way while exploring.

The same logic applies if you’re looking for the Elite Four Tower, which spawns in The End. This is what the Elite Four Tower looks like:

JOHTO

You’ll only be able to find the Johto gyms after defeating Blue, the Champion of Kanto.
However, for them to spawn properly, you’ll need to wait for server restart once after the battle.

You’ll then be able to find the other 8 gyms scattered across the world, each located in different biomes.

This is what the Johto gyms look like: once again, the roof color changes depending on the type:

Gym Leader Valerio

This is the Johto Cartographer, a curious figure who has made his way into our world, bringing along a unique crafting table tied to the Johto region.

Next to him, you’ll see his custom table: its crafting recipe is always available, so players can build it at any time. However, while the table is ready to use, the cartographer only offers a limited selection of basic trades for now.

That’s why we recommend not trading with him until the Kanto series is fully completed. His real value will become apparent later, as the adventure unfolds and new regions become accessible.

HOENN

The Hoenn gyms will only become available after defeating Johto’s Champion, Lance. Once you do, the gyms will unlock automatically, and with them, new biomes where you can find them.

Important: Remember to:

  • Read the book Lance gives you after the battle.
  • Wait for server restart once you have completed the Johto series by defeating Lance.

This is what the Hoenn gyms look like: As with the previous regions, the roof color will determine the type of the Gym Leader

Hoenn Gym

To help you find them, you can always rely on the Map Guide Villager, who sells maps for each gym. However, be aware: the world is much larger now, so if the villager says she can’t find the gym you’re looking for within 10,000 blocks, consider changing your location to increase your chances of finding it. For this reason, it’s a good idea to bring the Cartography Table with you as you travel.

SINNOH

The Sinnoh Gyms will only become available once you’ve completed the entire Hoenn series, that is, after you’ve defeated Rocco (Hoenn’s Champion).

Remember to always wait for server restart once before you start looking for the new trainers.

Here’s how the Sinnoh Gyms will appear: as always, the color of the roof matches the color associated with the Gym Leader’s type:

Sinnoh Pedro

You can use the Sinnoh Map Guide to locate the region’s Gyms.

Simply craft a Sinnoh Cartography Table and place it next to an unemployed villager, it works just like it does for the other regions.
